Get our free mobile appThis week Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced that the State of Texas Agriculture Relief Fund, also known as the STAR Fund, would be made available to Texas farmers and ranchers who had been impacted by the winter storm that crippled the state's agricultural industry and even threatened the food supply. The STAR Fund is an interesting program in that it doesn't use taxpayer money. “The STAR Fund is just another example of how Texans step up to help their fellow Texans,” said Miller. “Since the beginning of this crisis I’ve been warning of the threat to our state agriculture industry and our food supply. Thanks to them, the STAR Fund is able to provide much-needed relief to our ag producers as they fight to regain their footing after this deadly storm.” Through the STAR Fund, TDA reimburses qualified agricultural producers 50% of eligible expenses, up to $4,000.
