Back in the month of March, Reliance Jio accused Airtel of airing a misleading advertisement which claimed that Airtel is "officially India's fastest network". Ookla is a private firm and is not recognized by either the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) or the Department of Telecommunications, Jio questioned its Speed test methodology. Later, Jio filed a complaint with advertising industry watchdog - the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) and asked them to take strict action against the Airtel advertisement. Mukesh Amabni headed company argued that the Airtel advertisement should not use the word "officially" in its advertisements. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is reportedly calling major speed test apps for a presentation to "understand" their methodology.
