Channel 4All summer, bakers' brows in England and the United States have been furrowed over the looming changes at The Great British Bake Off. In a move from the BBC to the independent British commercial station, Channel 4, the show lost its beloved star, Mary Berry, and jolly co-hosts Sue Perkins (the one with the glasses) and Mel Giedroyic. The only holdover cast member, Paul Hollywood, got a new team -- culinary figure Prue Leith, in the Berry slot, and co-hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig. The verdict, after the first episode of the new series aired Tuesday night, seems to be that Bake Off has easily survived its transition. The tent is up, the bunting is out and the presenters, apart from Paul Hollywood, are new but not discombobulatingly different."
