The “clues from today,” let’s call them, were a little outrageous, but they were tempered by some elegance, nostalgia and wine. The “fat” corners in the northwest and southeast were harder than their opposites, but as a whole, it was a really fun solve. Tricky CluesThere are three vernacular entries today — two of them debuts — that are bound to get a reaction from many solvers. The other two, which crossed each other in cunning fashion and were very disarmingly clued, were 26D, BUTT DIALED, and 46A, FLIP PHONES.
