Senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma received him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. He was received at the airport by the Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with his flight landing at around 11:50am. Bhutan also sent high-level condolences, with a delegation led by Lyonpo DN Dhungyel, minister for foreign affairs and external trade, attending the state funeral following a royal command. Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nanda Sharma attended the funeral on behalf of his government and later met Tarique Rahman to express condolences. BNP chairperson and three-time former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia was laid to rest beside her husband, late president Ziaur Rahman, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
