Wilson, Jordan Harris, of Te Anau, and Hunter Te Awhe, of Bluff, were in March selected for the South Island Maori under-18 team. Games were played at the camp between the South Island under-18 and two North Island under-18 teams - North and Central. Afterwards, the national team was announced, with Wilson and Sam Fischli, of Milton, being the only South Islanders selected.
