Refugee children learning to play sport the Kiwi way GEORGE HEAGNEYSTUFFRefugee children in Palmerston North are learning how to play Kiwi sport. Kelly Sports Manawatū and Red Cross Palmerston North are working to help recently resettled refugee families by running an eight-week learn-to-play programme to teach children sport and exercise. It is hoped they continue to play sport once the programme ends. "Every day they are saying, 'Father, please bring me to play sport'," Tamin said. She said it gave the children the chance to be children again and families the chance to relax together and learn about Kiwi culture.
