The new course helps those who have been given asylum to get back into work. Refugee nurses are being recruited into the NHS on a fast-track scheme to help in the UK's fight against coronavirus. Mona Hamid, a refugee from Sudan who qualified as a nurse in 2017, was also on the pilot because she had been unable to work in the UK. She said: 'I want to bring all my skills to be a professional nurse in the NHS. Registered nurses accounted for 45% of all vacancies in NHS hospital and community health settings in England.
