Referee hit by misdirected left hook in world title fightAmerican boxing referee Arthur Mercante survived one of the biggest blows when he was accidentally hit during the super-middleweight unification fight in New York. Mercante was staggered by a left hook that Sweden's Badou Jack had intended for his British opponent James DeGale as the pair battled for the IBF and WBC titles on Monday. The fight ended in a controversial draw and Mercante received some of the biggest applause for the way he handled his hit.
