Starring Reese Witherspoon as a Hollywood denizen coping all too well with divorce, it makes Mama Meyers’ It’s Complicated looks like Bergman’s Scenes From a Marriage in comparison. This is evidently what passes for life trauma in a movie by Meyers-Shyer, who also wrote the puffball script. But that’s not the movie Meyers-Shyer wanted to make, just as Nancy Meyers is never going to make a movie where she challenges either her actors or her audience.
