In the past year since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, misinformation on social media platforms has been under close scrutiny. Like other social media platforms, Reddit has had to grapple with growing calls to deal with misinformation and conspiracy theories propagated on its platform. People also frequently comment and correct misinformation as part of the debate in Reddit communities. It is this system, Reddit’s chief operating officer Jen Wong told the Guardian, which sets Reddit apart from other social media sites. The code could be used to designate platforms like Reddit to force negotiations over the payment for content.
