Sydney-based anchor bottler Coca-Cola Amatil has tried them all – and turned to Asia as well for growth – but to no avail. It has even had its licence to expand in Asia confiscated by The Coca-Cola Company. That company – Coca-Cola European Partners – now plans to succeed where its target has failed by turning its attention to Asia when it has bedded down Amatil. Unit cases might not mean much to the average Coke, Sprite and Fanta drinker, but they mean a lot to The Coca-Cola Company. Amatil has achieved group managing director Alison Watkins' mid-single digit earnings per share growth targets only twice in six years.
