The Red Cross is preparing to ramp up efforts to help those struggling from earthquake, drought and fire-induced stress in North Canterbury before winter hits. Following the November 14 earthquake, the Red Cross door-knocked 2987 homes across the Hurunui, Marlborough and Kaikoura districts. They raised $1300 and handed the money over to New Zealand Red Cross recovery communications manager Simon Makker. New Zealand Red Cross recovery communications manager Simon Makker said the organisation was using what worked after the Christchurch earthquakes to develop a recovery programme for North Canterbury and Marlborough.
