Red Cross cuts medical transport services

New Zealand Red Cross is halting its free shuttle services for patients. The nationwide transition will see a phase out of community transport services in 1-3 years, forcing branches under the Red Cross banner to find new funding providers. Red Cross Humanitarian Services Manager, Jen Richardson co-ordinated the relief efforts in 2017. In many areas where a Red Cross Community Transport service is in place, other service providers are already doing similar work, he said. It is Red Cross' priority that people who rely on this service are not left vulnerable through this change, he said.
