This year, on the 75th anniversary of VE Day, Armed Forces Day will also recognise the Army’s important work throughout the Covid-19 pandemic that has affected the whole country. While most Armed Forces Day celebrations will be virtual, the Red Arrows will be taking to the sky this morning. The event marking Armed Forces Day was originally supposed to take place in Scarborough before it was cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. For the first time in history the country will be celebrating Armed Forces Day virtually. The Queen has thanked the Armed forces, saying in a statement: “As your Commander-in-Chief, I send my warmest best wishes to you all, your families, and the entire Armed Forces community.”Boris Johnson joined her in sending his support as he spoke with Lieutenant Colonel Harvey Pynn.
