Record number of COVID-19 tests in Winnipeg forces testing sites to turn away patients

Renata Meconse and her young daughter were two of the people turned away from the MPI drive-through COVID-19 testing site on Main Street in Winnipeg Tuesday. A record number of people are being tested for COVID-19 in Winnipeg in recent days, according to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. The WRHA says its COVID-19 testing sites have seen record numbers of patients in recent days. The drive-through testing site on Main Street, though, has seen an "unanticipated surge in demand," the spokesperson said. Another alternative could be to list wait times for each testing site, like the WRHA does for its emergency room wait times.
