(Photo: Royal Thai Army)Satellite data shows a record surge in hotspots across Thailand, with 4,750 detected in a single day, most in forested areas, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Gistda) reported on Tuesday. Hotspots are derived from multi-spectral satellite data. The majority of hotspots were detected in protected forest areas, accounting for 2,553 hotspots, followed by national reserved forests with 1,717. Agricultural areas recorded 187 hotspots, Sor Por Kor land reform areas 161, community and other areas 125, and along highways 7.
