For we really do have people out there who tell us that inequality is the paramount problem of our times. That there is no problem more important nor urgent than that inequality, it’s something that simply must be reduced come what may. Recessions reduce inequality–so, if we just must solve inequality then why not have another recession? Thus, despite the attention currently being given to this inequality question it’s not quite as important as all that, is it? The OECD uses the Gini coefficient, a measure of household income to measure wealth distribution.
