GEORGE TOWN: The state assembly became tense when the topic of the recent forum on flood came up during the debate on state budget today. Jahara was responding to defensive tone of DAP assemblymen who were adamant that the forum was used to attack the state government over the flood problems in Penang. The subject on the forum cropped up when RSN Rayer (DAP-Seri Delima) was debating the motion on the state budget. He said the forum participants had claimed that the recent landslide here was caused by hillslope development in the state. The heated debate lasted for more than an hour before Deputy Speaker Maktar Shapee forced Rayer to change the topic.
