KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 7): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will not consider a receiver cleared of corruption although the bribe is returned to the giver, according to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan. Low said this in Parliament today. In Low's written reply to Bukit Gantang MP Idris Ahmad, Low said there was no provision under the MACC Act 2009 to consider a person cleared of corruption in such a circumstance. "Under Section 33, 37 and 38 of MACC Act 2009, during an investigation, the anti-graft body is able to confiscate bribes in the form of cash, cash in bank, shares or moveable property like vehicles, watches, jewellery and others, and immovable property like land, houses, and shop lots," Low said.
