Receding water levels bring relief to Kurigram low-lying areas


Water levels in Dudhkumar and Brahmaputra char area receded on Friday, marking an improvement in the flood situation in Kurigram's low-lying places. According to the control room of the local office of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), the water levels in all rivers of Kurigram, except Dharla, are falling. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif said: “Flood situation has not yet arisen. There are reports of low water levels in rivers. Flood relief is being given to some of the affected families.”Abdullah Al Mamun, executive engineer of the BWDB said: "There is no major flood forecast in the next two weeks.”
