Officers in the elite Recce squad who have joined Operation Linda Boni claim they do not get food and allowances. Milimani, about 70km to Mokowe and 100km to Mpeketoni, is one of the areas prone to al Shabaab attacks due to poor networks. He noted that the General Service Unit, which includes the Recce Squad, is among several recognised and well-disciplined force which are valued by the government.
