Recapitalisation bonds: Govt fixes coupon rates up to 7.68% with six maturities


The government is issuing recapitalisation bonds worth Rs80,000 crore in public sector banks by 31 March 2018 as part of the larger Rs2.11 trillion bank recapitalisation plan. Bank recapitalisation bonds are being issued as part of the government’s Rs2.11 trillion bank recapitalisation plan. Bonds will be issued with six different maturities and coupon rates for infusing capital in public sector banks, as per a gazette notification issued by the government on 29 January. A total of Rs80,000 crore will be infused in public sector banks through recapitalisation bonds this year, said the gazette notification. State Bank of India (SBI) will get Rs8,800 crore, Punjab National Bank Rs5,473 crore and Bank of Baroda Rs5,375 crore.
