Real Madrid have now confirmed that they have parted company with Zinedine Zidane via a club statement, in which they thanked him for his service. Zidane told Florentino Perez late last night that he was planning to walk away after another disappointing trophy-less campaign. Real Madrid missed out on the La Liga title on the final day of the season to rivals Atletico Madrid, who won their second championship under Diego Simeone. The statement put out by Los Blancos read: "Real Madrid CF announces that Zinedine Zidane has decided to end his current stage as coach of our club. "It is now time to respect his decision and show him our appreciation for his professionalism, dedication and passion in all these years, and for what his figure represents for Real Madrid.
