In a statement here on Saturday, the Minister appreciated the manner in which the health officials had coordinated to provide emergency care to those rescued from the sea. She praised the role of the public, volunteers, and Indian Medical Association in carrying out emergency relief work. The fishermen rescued from the sea are mostly being treated at the Medical College Hospital (MCH) and General Hospital (GH). Five persons are being treated there and a medical team from GH with specialists are providing care. In Kollam, two persons are being treated at the Neendakara taluk hospital and another 31 at the Kollam district hospital.
