New Zealanders are reading more online these days - but it is making us less engaged with the content. The popularity of reading content online is contributing to New Zealanders being less engaged with what they are reading. Reading in a Digital Age, a report created by Read NZ, found that although reading online was helping to grow reading, it was changing the way people did it. Reading online content was more likely to be brief, and involve switching between different material. For parents, it was important that children saw them reading books and books were read to them to pique their interest.
