Rasmus Sandin will be back with the Maple Leafs, and when he returns, it will probably be to stay. Sheer incompetence, really, given that the six-foot-two Abdelkader launched himself upwards at the five-foot-10 Sandin and drove his left elbow into the defenceman’s jaw. So really, Sandin has overachieved by getting to the NHL ahead of schedule, just 16 months after he became Leaf property. Given the Leafs’ cap situation, it seems less likely the team will be able to afford him. So Barrie’s skates are the skates, theoretically, Sandin is going to have to be ready to fill next fall.
