If you look up at the sky from 8pm, you could see a so-called blood micromoon, a rare lunar event that last occurred over Aotearoa nearly 800 years ago, according to Stardome astronomer Rob Davison. The Moon's face will be 97 per cent covered by the Earth's shadow (rather than fully covered like a total eclipse), and the lunar surface will turn red.
