Raptors have succeeded at stopping all-stars. Now it’s time to focus on secondary players

CHICAGO – The Raptors are finding out the hard way that any job isn’t truly done unless all the details are nailed down. Yet the Raptors managed to lose both games, primarily because they didn’t do enough against secondary players, perhaps because they were resting on the laurels of stopping the all-stars on the other squad. Ben McLemore hit eight three-pointers for the Rockets — more than he’d made in any game of his career — and finished with 28 points. The frustrating part for the Raptors is they’ve been tremendously successful at times this season in scheming to stop stars and not being beaten by secondary guys. Some of it is attributable to secondary players having great one-off games but Toronto’s defence has been slacking just a little bit too much some nights.
