The Court of Appeal has adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by Ranjan Ramanayake until the 5th of next month to decide whether to issue a notice over the case filed with regard to his parliamentary seat. The verdict of the petition filed by the jailed Ramanayake seeking the issuance of a writ order preventing the abolition of his parliamentary seat was to be announced today (31). However, the bench comprising Justices Arjuna Obeysekera and Mayadunne Koraya stated that the verdict has not been prepared yet. Accordingly, the bench informed that the verdict will be announced on the 5th. The Secretary General of Parliament and the Attorney General have been named as respondents in the petition.
