Kisumu county is working with the KCA university to train more than 7,000 youths from the county on entrepreneurship. On completion, the youth will be put in business structured support groups to help them access funding from Uwezo and Youth Enterprise Fund. Entrepreneurship skills training, business startup, enabling environment and financial linkages to enable the youth access loans to start and run businesses are some of the ideas set for the training. Ranguma said 200 youth have been selected from each of the 35 wards in the county and enrolled into the programme. Ranguma said teaching business or entrepreneurship in classroom set up alone cannot instill the requisite skills or transform aspiring entrepreneurs into entrepreneurs.
