Right-handed relief pitcher Dane Dunning will start in place of the injured Jacob deGrom on Friday against the Los Angeles Angels, the Rangers officially announced Friday morning. DeGrom, who had made his first six scheduled starts this season, was placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with right elbow inflammation. Dunning, 28, has been the brightest spot in a shaky Texas bullpen this season. Dunning started 54 games for Texas from 2021-22, but transitioned to the bullpen this season after the Rangers signed deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi and Andrew Heaney. Rangers Be the smartest Rangers fan.
