Left-hander Cole Ragans, the Rangers’ first-round pick in 2016 who underwent two Tommy John surgeries in consecutive years, was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. In his last outing for Double-A Frisco, pitching in notoriously hitter-friendly Amarillo, Ragans held the Sod Poodles scoreless for six innings to lower his season ERA to 2.81, which ranked third in the Texas League. He ranked fourth in the Texas League in WHIP at 1.17 and averaged 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings to just 3.4 walks in 10 starts for Frisco. “I’m pretty excited,” Ragans said last week.
