The Portuguese coach is due to arrive in Glasgow within the next 48 hours if Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani, chairman of Al-Gharafa, agrees to let him go four months before the end of his contract. Caixinha has been with Al-Gharafa since December 2015. They finished ninth in the Qatar Stars League last season and are now fifth in the table as they enter their mid-season break. Rangers hope to make an official announcement before the end of this week although as The Times reported last week there is no prospect of Caixinha taking the team in Sunday’s league game against Celtic.
