According to locals, a stone-laden truck fell into a canal after the bridge collapsed due to overloading near the Cinema Hall area under Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati at around 11am. The truck driver and helper, who was injured in the accident, were sent to a local hospital for treatment. Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Chandraghona Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said: “The injured truck driver and helper were rescued with the help of the locals. But the truck drivers on this route had been irresponsibly ignoring the weight limit in place and thus such accidents occurred, they added.
