Randall Denley: Ontario budget's post-secondary changes aim to close gap between skills and jobs


For the first time, college and university funding will depend primarily on results, not on the size of the student population. The big change is going to be at Ontario universities. Employers have a hard time finding skilled workers and it’s really up to college and universities, working with government, to close that gap. While Ontario will quickly become the Canadian leader in tying post-secondary performance to funding, it is not a new idea. If the Ontario plan works as hoped, our universities will sharpen their focus on creating employment-related skills.
