"I want to congratulate Ramada Plaza for showing such enthusiasm during the month of independence, where the hotel building is filled with flags that can be seen from the Melaka River Cruise. Ghazale encouraged all companies and premise owners in the state to put up more national flags to attract more tourists to Melaka. Ramada Plaza general manager Edouard Reizian said this was the first time the hotel organised such an event. "Sixty flags were distributed to symbolise the 60 years of Independence in Malaysia," Edouard said. Ghazale said this year's Independence Day celebration at the state would be see the re enactment of the Malayan Declaration of Independence at the Proclamation of Independence Memorial which took place on Feb 20, 1956.
