The Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments on Monday amid protests by members of various parties, including those of the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party who alleged misuse of the CBI. SP leader Akhilesh Yadav was then Chief Minister and had held the additional portfolio of the Mining Ministry. Left party members, too, got up to raise the issue of violence allegedly by BJP workers in Kerala over the entry of women into the Sabrimala temple. As his repeated pleas went unheeded, he adjourned the proceedings till 2 p.m. As the protests continued, the Deputy Chairman adjourned the proceedings for the day.
