Rajya Sabha polls: JD(S) suspends 8 MLAs for anti-party activities : India, News

The JD(S) candidate in the Rajya Sabha polls B M Farooq suffered a humiliating loss. The party earlier today adopted a resolution asking its president to suspend 8 MLAs and to expel them for their indiscipline. On Saturday, after voting for the Congress candidate, the 8 rebels had dared the party leaders to expel them from the party. Senior leaders of the party today met at the residence of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and decided to punish the 8 MLAs for not following the party's order. He said, according to the party constitution, a three-member enquiry committee would be set up, which after going through their (suspended MLAs) replies to the notice, would decide on the expulsion.
