Judge Shirin Kabita Akter of Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal announced the verdict on Tuesday. The judge sentenced Majedur’s mother Asinur Begum to life in prison and acquitted three other accused—Abul Kashem, Aminul Islam and Shahabuddin. The abductors beheaded him, chopped off his hands and dumped his body parts into a drain, according to the case dossier. They demanded Tk 1 million as ransom from Rabbi’s father. Police found Rabbi’s body on Dec 26 following a case started by Rabbi’s father Ali Hossain.
