Rajasthan govt ignores protests, tables Bill to shield public servants, judges

The Congress members walked out in protest. The Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill, 2017, seeks to replace a September 7 ordinance. The Bill says serving and former judges, magistrates and public servants cannot be investigated for official acts without the government’s permission. The BJP’s Tiwari requested Speaker Kailash Meghwal to allow him to raise a point or order but his plea was rejected. He said that the opposition would not allow a debate on the bill without the prior sanction of the President.
