While her friends were studying in primary school Mamta was married off, at the age of eight. Thirteen years later, Mamta, who is now 21-years old, has managed to get her marriage annulled merely three days before Akha Teej, that falls on April 18. She sought help from social organisations and the toughest part was to convince her father to agree to get the marriage annulled. And finally on Saturday, Mamta managed to get free from the child marriage. I will also work to help girls like me who are victims of child marriage and want to get free," she said.
