Between 10am and 3pm, Buller and Nelson west of Motueka can expect 50 to 70mm of rain with peak intensities of 10 to 20mm an hour. A heavy rain warning has been issued for Nelson. MetService has issued severe weather warnings on Wednesday for heavy rain, strong winds forecasted for parts of New Zealand. A slow moving front over central NZ continues to roll north over the North Island on Thursday bringing a period of heavy rain to much of upper North Island. MetService said the heavy rain warning might cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly.
