Restrictions on popular walking and mountainbiking tracks in Blenheim are set to be lifted after a bout of rain bought the region "welcome relief". Over 30mm of rain has fallen in Blenheim and Picton on Friday, enough to reopen the Wither Hills Farm Park's upper tracks to the public, says the Marlborough District Council. A council spokesman said signage warning trampers to steer clear of the hills would be removed. Upper tracks in the Wither Hills hills closed last month after warnings that the tracks could turn deadly in a fire. The rain was not enough to break water restrictions in Renwick and Picton, but these would be reviewed next week, he said.
