NewsThe North-East Monsoon has now established over the island, the Department of Meteorology stated today (20). Accordingly, showers or thundershowers will occur in most provinces of the island. Fairly heavy falls (above 75mm) can be expected at some places in the Eastern,Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and in the Kalutara district, the Department noted. Fairly strong gusty winds (up to 50 kmph) can be expected in North-Western and Central provinces and Hambanthota and Matara districts. Temporary localized strong winds may also be experienced during thundershowers.
