Rain hampers rescue of seriously injured personFAIRFAX NZ Emergency services have been called to a crash in Waipara, North Canterbury. Wet weather is hampering the rescue of a seriously injured person after a truck and a motorhome crashed in North Canterbury. A police spokeswoman said a rescue helicopter had been put on standby, but poor weather conditions meant the person would have to be taken to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance. Firefighters freed the trapped person from their vehicle after the crash, which happened about 11.40am on Monday. The crash, on State Highway 7 near Bain Rd, closed one lane.
