According to officials of the Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd. of Telangana, major causes for the disruption of power were tree branches falling on electrical conductors, insulator failure, banners and other objects falling on the conductors, failure of air break switches and jumpers. Irrespective of the complaints by consumers, disruption in the supply of power can be identified in the control systems such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). Asked about long delays in restoration of power supply to some domestic consumers, the officials it could be due to delay in getting the replacement service wire by the consumers after it was damaged and snapped from the poles.
