MIRI: A big chunk of a deep slope on Canada Hill in Miri collapsed on Wednesday morning. This follows similar soil erosion at Kampung Lereng Bukit two days ago that saw road cave-ins and several houses located at the foothills to tilt. Heavy rain over the past few days had caused soil movement that resulted in the landslide. Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting said the slope collapse this morning resulted in half of the road caving in. JKR Miri will be bringing in hillslope engineers from Kuala Lumpur to probe the slope failure," he said.
