The Southern Railway is likely to fix automated doors in train coaches to check footboard travel. Counsel informed the court that the Railway was in the process of developing coaches with automated doors. Southern Railway made the submission in response to a PIL petition moved in 2013 seeking a direction to authorities to take steps to control travel by footboard in trains. Officials have informed the HC that the ICF has developed coaches with automatic doors. Kaul and Justice R. Mahadevan, counsel for Southern Railway pointed out that a similar issue was dealt by a Division Bench of the Allahabad High Court in 2010.
