Thousands of railway employees went to jail or lost jobs as the government cracked down. The NFIR wants the government to scrap the Bibek Debroy Committee report and implement the positive recommendations of a High Power Committee. The federation complained that injustice is being done to railway employees like technicians and technical supervisors in respect of the allotment of Seventh Pay Commission. Consequently, all central government employees totalling over 32 lakh people took a unanimous decision on 3 June to go on strike from 11 July, he said.
